Mira displays deft work with high-design Agile
Leading shower manufacturer Mira has developed a new series of high-performance, high design, easy clean and easy install thermostatic mixer showers for 2013. The first launch in the new family of innovative mixers is Mira Agile. The Mira Agile collection is an exposed valve range for brand new installations that benefits from unique and patented installation system that makes fitting exceptionally simple and practically tool-free. Similarly, the clever new design also renders the range particularly stylish and compact.
Guaranteed for five years, the eight shower collection is an exposed valve range for brand new installations that benefits from a unique and patented installation system that makes fitting exceptionally simple and practically tool-free. Similarly, the clever new showers feature a sleek, ‘unibody’ design that renders the range particularly stylish and compact.
The first three showers in the Agile range comprise the Agile S EV, which has a single sequential control governing both temperature and flow; the Agile EV with separate temperature and flow control; and the Agile ERD which has separate temperature and flow control and an external rigid diverter for users who want the choice between a handset and a deluge shower head.
The Agile S EV has a one spray 9cm showerhead with rub-clean nozzles, while the Agile EV features a 9cm head with four spray patterns. The Agile ERD has a 20cm deluge fixed showerhead plus separate 9cm one spray showerhead – both with rub-clean rubber nozzles. Both heads can be used independently or together.
All of the Agile showers are compatible with a range of sold-alone style-matched accessories, which can be used to customise the shower. Some of these can actually be ‘plugged in’ to the valve and take the form of an attractive, integral soap dish or a module which displays time and temperature for precise control.
S EV and EV showers are available in an ‘eco’ option, with the incorporation of a 6 litre-per-minute flow regulator; while – conversely – all showers feature Mira Magni-Flo™ for unbeatable performance. Magni-Flo™ is a patented technology which means the company’s mixer showers can provide up to three times more flow, even at low pressure. This is achieved through optimisation of flow through the valve; and means that the mixers not only operate at all pressures, but conspicuously more effective than competitor offerings.
Agile is accompanied by the striking Agile+ range, which features a larger 25cm deluge fixed showerhead and separate 11cm showerhead, and comes with integrated plug-in modules. There are three valves to choose from including Agile EV+ Store, which features an attractive, integral soap dish – Agile Sense EV+ has an integrated module which displays time and temperature for precise control: and the Agile Sense ERD+ is the diverter variant, also featuring a digital module.
In developing the Agile range, Mira worked with installers to rethink the installation process, making it simpler and quicker. Aimed at the new build and total bathroom refurbishment markets, the patented thermostatic mixer valve requires pipes at exact 50mm centres, rather than the standard 110mm.
The idea behind this change was to create as discreet a valve as possible, with the smooth, organic lines which consumers wanted. The spacing of 50mm between pipes allows the valves to be small – but as powerful as ever - while still allowing the installer to cut the pipes to length using a standard pipe slice.
Every step of the installation process has received careful scrutiny, right down to the tiling. A rectangular tiling template which holds the pipes at the correct separation allows straight cuts in the surrounding tiles, an easier operation than drilling holes which saves on time and wastage.
To fit the mixer valve body, the installer slips pipe collets around the two pipes and simply pushes the filters into the pipe stubs and then body onto them, securing it with a grub screw tightened with an allen key supplied in the kit. This creates a robust and watertight connection.
For the installers the benefits of this system, which Mira believes could revolutionise the industry, include a right-first-time process, less time to install, and a task that can be carried out by a multi-skilled operative. The end result should be more profit.
